Job Description:

Virtucruit is partnering with a leading mining company in Saudi Arabia, to appoint an Underground Mine Geologist within the Mine Geology & Resource Development department.

This role is essential in supporting underground mining operations through accurate geological interpretation, grade control, and orebody modeling. The successful candidate will work closely with mine planning, engineering, and operations teams to ensure effective ore extraction, minimize dilution, and maximize resource recovery.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a geology professional to contribute to the development and optimization of underground mining operations while working in a technically driven mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

Geological Mapping & Data Collection

  • Conduct underground geological mapping of development headings, stopes, and production areas.
  • Perform geological logging, sampling, and data collection to support mine operations.
  • Ensure accurate recording and interpretation of geological structures, mineralization, and lithology.

Ore Control & Grade Management

  • Implement and monitor grade control procedures to ensure accurate ore delineation.
  • Support ore control programs to minimize ore loss and dilution during mining.
  • Assist in the reconciliation of grade control models with production data and plant performance.

Geological Modeling & Data Management

  • Contribute to geological modeling and orebody interpretation using industry-standard geological software.
  • Maintain accurate geological databases and ensure data integrity and quality control.
  • Support updates to resource models using production and exploration data.

Operational Collaboration

  • Work closely with mine planning, engineering, and operations teams to support production targets.
  • Provide geological input for stope design, development planning, and mining sequence decisions.
  • Participate in production meetings and provide technical geological insights to support operational decisions.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all geological activities are conducted in compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote a strong safety culture within underground mining operations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Geology, Mining Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Additional professional certifications or postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in mining geology, preferably in underground mining operations.
  • Experience in ore control, geological mapping, and grade control in underground mines.
  • Experience working in base metals, gold, or polymetallic mining operations is preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of underground mining methods and geological interpretation.
  • Experience with geological modeling and mining software such as Leapfrog, Datamine, Surpac, or Vulcan.
  • Experience with grade control systems, geological databases, and resource reconciliation.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
