Job Description:

Virtucruit is partnering with a leading mining company in Saudi Arabia to appoint an Exploration Drill Rig Electrician within the Exploration Department.

The ideal candidate shall be involved in maintenance activities such as troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and installation of electrical and electronic systems to minimize downtime and improve overall rig productivity.

This appointment offers an opportunity for a technically skilled electrician to contribute to the reliability and performance of drilling operations in a demanding mining environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Ensures the highest level of safety, health and environmental work standards are maintained.
  • Carry out inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on Surface and Underground exploration drill rigs – Epiroc Boyles and Diamec PHC.
  • Diagnose and repair complex electrical and electro-hydraulic faults on underground and surface drill rigs.
  • Install, test, calibrate, and maintain electrical systems including sensors, PLCs, relays, wiring harnesses, control panels, and instrumentation.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, hydraulic drawings, and OEM manuals.
  • Conduct regular inspections of drilling equipment to identify potential electrical faults and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Perform fault finding and repairs on CANBUS systems, control circuits, lighting systems, alternators, starters, and charging systems.
  • Use diagnostic software, multimeters, insulation testers, and computerized testing equipment to identify faults and ensure equipment performance.
  • Repair and replace electrical components such as proximity sensors, solenoids, limit switches, joysticks, displays, and control modules.
  • Assist in commissioning and testing of new drill rigs and electrical upgrades.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, parts usage, and work hours.
  • Provide technical feedback to planners and reliability engineers to improve maintenance strategies and documentation.
  • Ensure all maintenance and repairs are performed in line with company safety standards and OEM specifications.
  • Supports the development and training of local nationals by providing mentorship, guidance and coaching, leading to their growth and development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electronics, Auto Electrical, or High School with equivalent years of experience.
  • 5+ years' experience working on Surface and Underground exploration drill rigs (Epiroc and Sandvik preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of drill rig electrical systems, PLC systems, electro-hydraulic controls, and CANBUS diagnostics.
  • Experience using electrical diagnostic tools and OEM troubleshooting software.
  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms is a plus (e.g., Service Manager, SAP, etc.).
  • Good English communication skills (both oral and written).
